Black Feathers for Crafting, Costumes, and Elegant Weddings & Events

Halloween is just around the corner and this week we are highlighting some of our black feathers. We are so excited to showcase our favorite feathers as well as share some inspiration for this season’s DIY’s.

The first feather we will highlight is our Black Rooster Neck Hackle Trim. This beautiful trim consists of feathers ranging from 4-6 inches in length. The feathers are sewn to a black ribbon for simple application, but can also be detached easily.

We love using trim for our projects because it really can save you so much time. Rather than handling each feather individually, you can work with a strip of 200 feathers at once. This is especially useful when you need dense feather coverage in a project.

These feathers can be used for costumes, special occasions, and other home project. One customer recently used these feathers as an accent for a witch’s broom.

Next, we are sharing two of our fluffy Ostrich feathers with you, the Black Ostrich Tail Feathers and the Black Mini Spads Ostrich Chick Body Feathers.

These feathers are perfect statement pieces. They range from 12-18 inches in length and some of our favorite uses include feathered fans, head dresses, millinery, and centerpieces. These ostrich feathers have gorgeous wispy hair-like feathers coming out of a stiff and sturdy quill. While we love the the soft look of the ostrich feathers, some projects call for stiffer feathers. We are highlighting both a duck and pheasant feather.

Our Black Duck Pointer Primary Wing Feathers have so much versatility. These duck feathers are long, pointed, and 7-10 inches long. They are the primary wing feathers of peking ducks. Some uses for the Pointer Primary Wing Feathers include angel wings, hat accents, crafts, masks, and quill pens.

Another great option for stiff feathers are our Ringneck Pheasant Tail Feathers. These feathers are 20-22 inches long. These feathers are a great sophisticated touch to fashion designs, centerpieces, and decorations. They have a very sharp point which is a great edgy touch to your halloween house decor.

The last feather we are highlighting this week is our Black goose Nagoire Feather. These are the feathers we have used in our last two tutorial videos. They are firm feathers, but do have a soft wispy base near the quill. They are great when you want the appearance of volume, but need the feathers to lay flat. These feathers are rounded at the top and great for earrings, jewelry, collars, and cuffs.
