Decorate Your Guest Room on a Budget with feather accent
There are of course items that every bedroom must contain such as a bed and dresser. Be sure to have at least a queen size bed to offer your guests as well as a dresser to put away their items. Now for the fun partdecorating! To keep costs low for a guest room you will need to be creative. Check out flea markets or second hand stores for furniture and decorative items that will add a sense of style and comfort to your room.
Items to consider:
Chair- An extra chair that is taking up valuable space in your home may be the perfect furniture accent to add to your guest room. If you dont have one on hand purchase a sitting or dining room chair at a second hand store to offer your guests a place to sit and read or apply their makeup. A chair can be a great place to stack guest towels and additional blankets, as well.
Side Tables- You may be able to find side tables at a local flea market or yard sale for a great deal. Dont be too picky, but keep an open mind! Wooden tables or night stands can be painted inexpensively and outdated hardware can easily be updated at little cost. This will be a great place to store reading materials, book lights or toiletry items to offer guests.
Mirror- Adding a mirror over a dresser will give your guests a chance to check their hair and apply makeup before venturing out of their room. Guests will appreciate your consideration, and if you dont have a separate bathroom set aside for guests only, you will benefit as well. Giving your company a place in the room to get ready will limit use of a shared bathroom to showers and restroom use only.
Pictures- To decorate your additional room on a budget consider creating feather art. With a few inexpensive matching frames and large peacock feathers you can create eye catching art at a fraction of the cost of a store bought counterpart. Frame festive pheasant feathers or large ostrich feathers against a contrasting backdrop for a stylish room accent. Place art over the bed as a head board substitute or over side tables for a stunning decorative effect.
