Holidays are great for bringing family and friends
together. Reminiscing over dinners and
making new memories are just a few things that make Thanksgiving, Christmas and
New Years’ worth celebrating. Not only
does the food at these occasions get us in a cheerful mood, but the décor that
is special to each particular holiday helps to set the mood for merriment.
As the favored fall and winter holidays draw near, begin to
plan your seasonal décor. There are
certain aspects of each celebration that remain unchanged and part of family
and cultural tradition. Others are
outdated and in desperate need of an update.
Learn how to update your holiday table, Christmas tree and New Year’s
décor by incorporating feathers.
Thanksgiving has
traditionally been planned around a feast of turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce
and green bean casserole…and this is one tradition that should remain
unchanged. Décor often consists of
potpourri filled vases, brown and orange colored accents and scarecrow yard figurines
set out to greet guests. A few revised
decorations that are stylish this Thanksgiving are to add pheasant feathers to vases as
table centerpieces. Sprays of fresh cut
sunflowers with a few feather accents will give new life and interest to
already vibrant and festive fall arrangements.
Christmas has
been designated by colors of red and green with metallic embellishments. Christmas trees decked out in collected
family ornaments, smells of gingerbread and twinkling lights are all favorite articles
of the Christmas season. With all of the
garlands, wreaths and decorations that make it out of storage to redecorate our
houses each year, we tend to get bored of placing the same objects in the same
places year after year. Give your décor new
life by adding spotted guinea
feathers. By gluing guinea
feathers to plain ornaments, artificial garlands or decoration spheres your
holiday adornments will gain a less artificial appearance.
New Year’s is a
time to celebrate making it through one more year. Some people make resolutions based on health
and lifestyle or yearly goals for work or home.
Bring in the New Year in style with this season’s hottest
trend…feathers. Decorations for this
beginning of the year holiday are usually minimal. Simple snowman wreaths and “Let it Snow”
signs are some of the only decorating staples.
Add soft feather boas in blue and white goose feathers to accent your door wreath or any welcome
signs. The feathered trim will take
those store bought decorations from ordinary to one of a kind.
