DIY Etsy Inspired Bohemian Wall Hanging
Share
We’ve got another beautiful Etsy inspired project for you guys; this time it’s a feather and driftwood boho wall piece that you can hang in your home or make for a friend!
Supplies you’ll need:
-White hemp chord
-Medium sized wood beads
-1 pack of 5 pcs. Natural Reeves Venery Pheasant Wing Feathers
-Driftwood stick
-Scissors
-Hot glue
-Glue gun
Step 1:
Decide how long you want your feathers to hang down and measure out a length of hemp chord that is about 2-3 inches longer than that. You can have the feathers hang down at all the same length or at varying lengths; it’s up to you. Cut your desired lengths of hemp chord for each of the remaining 4 feathers.
Step 2:
Trim the quill tips of your feathers down, leaving just enough space to tie the chord and attach the bead to.
Step 3:
Taking a feather and a length of hemp chord, tie the chord onto the trimmed end of the feather using a tight, single knot. Add a couple drops of hot glue onto the knot to secure it in place. Let dry, and then trim the excess length on the short end of the string.
Step 4:
String a wood bead down the long end of the string and push it on top of the knot and the end of the quill tip to cover the glue. Repeat steps 3 and 4 with the remaining feathers.
Step 5:
Tie the feather strings, front side up, to the driftwood by tying one knot, wrapping the end length around the wood once, and ending it with a double knot. Cut the excess length off. Repeat with the rest of the feathers, evenly spacing them out across the driftwood stick.
Step 6:
Take a few feet of hemp chord and wrap one end several times around the end of the driftwood, covering up the excess end string by wrapping over it. Measure out enough length for hanging the piece, around 10-18”, and then start wrapping the other end of the driftwood with the rest of the chord. Tie the string off and you are finished with your piece!
