Fun Feathered Lampshade

Feathers, coming in all colors and sizes, make for a
beautiful addition to any space. If
you’re looking to add some new lighting to your home or office, lamps are an
easy way to brighten things up. Why pay a ton of money for a fancy decorative lamp when you could make your own unique lampshade by adorning it with a custom
arrangement of feathers? This tutorial will show you how simple and inexpensive
it is to create your own!
Supplies you’ll need:
-A lampshade and base
-Hot glue
-Hot glue gun
-Scissors
-Grey turkey t-base plumage feathers
Step 1:
If it’s not already, remove the lampshade from the lamp base and take off any tags or anything that may still be on the lampshade. Lay out your feathers in a pile so that they are easier to grab.
Step 2:
Begin gluing the feathers to the lampshade using the glue gun. Start at the bottom and work up row by row, covering the whole bottom and then moving up to the next layer until the whole thing is covered. It helps to place the feathers top down and glue them that way so the feathers are flipping up outwards from the lampshade; this makes for a nice fluffy look! Make each row close together, covering the quill tips of the layer below it so that your lamp has a nice, even appearance. When you glue the very top row, let the glue dry and then take scissors and trim off any excess quills that are hanging off the top of the lampshade so that the feathers lie flush with the top of the shade.
Step 3:
Inspect your lampshade for any areas where feathers look sparse or that have gaps. Fill in those spaces how you see fit with your extra feathers and let all the glue dry!
Step 4:
Reattach the lampshade to the lamp base securely and plug it in! You now have your very own custom, beautiful feather lamp.
