The days on the calendar seem to pass too quickly once the
holidays begin. With all of the shopping
and decorating for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas taking place it is
easy to get lost in preparation. It
seems that somehow we end up getting all of the items checked off of our list
that are necessary for each holiday related event, but once the new year rolls
around we begin to slack.
Many people have adopted the tradition of choosing a new
year’s tradition. We have high hopes of
bettering ourselves each year in order to extend or increase our quality of
life. Whether it is due to our
“unselfishness” or a lack of motivation, these resolutions begin to become more
of an afterthought by the end of February.
Check out the top 10 New Year Resolutions and see a simple tip that may make
your resolution easier to maintain.
Top 10 Resolutions
& Tips
1.
Get
Healthier- Becoming healthier is always a top new year’s resolution because
it is such a broad generalization. It
could mean that you exercise during commercial breaks, substitute soda for
water, or stop smoking.
2.
Lose
Weight- We may not all have time or money to purchase a gym membership, but
weight can be lost by eating better. Cut
out or reduce intake of your favorite food addiction.
3.
Get
Organized- It’s time to de-clutter and get organized. Don’t spend another year in a cramped
space. Donate unused items to a local
shelter or center.
4.
Family
Time- Commit to spending more quality time with family. A monthly dinner or a family fun night is
great for getting everyone together.
5.
Stress
Less- We work so hard every day at our 9-to-5 to come home to bills, needy
pets and mouths to feed only to wake up and repeat. Take up reading a new book or leisurely hobby
to regain a sense of calm.
6.
Be
Charitable- If you have considered donating to a charity or to just be a
more charitable citizen this year may be the perfect time to begin.
7.
Complete
a lifetime Dream- Have you always wanted to go to Paris, purchase a new
car, or climb a high elevation mountain peak?
Plan and save this year to get you closer to your dream.
8.
Improve
Self Image- Some people base their image off of being successful in the
workplace, extending their education or on their physical appearance. You can enroll in a college course or get a
new wardrobe to build up your confidence.
9.
Try
something New- Whether you are adventurous and want to try sky diving or
rock climbing, or you are on the tame side and a new hair-do such as
incorporating pheasant feathers, rooster feathers or any type of feather hair extension will quality as something
new, give it a try this year.
10.
Reduce
Debt- Pay down those credit cards and if you have items in collection, work
to reduce their balance.
