Gold and White Ostrich Feather Escort Cards
Share
Do you have a wedding or special event coming up soon? Escort cards (also known as table cards) will help your guests find where they are seated and using feathers is an easy and cost effective way to create your own! An elegant gold and white color scheme is a classic look, and paired with ostrich drabs this project is sure to wow!
Supplies you’ll need:
-6-8” Off White Ostrich Drabs (one for each guest)
-Cardstock squares (1”x1”) with your guest’s names and tables printed on them
-White floral tape or washi tape
-Scissors
-Thickly gauged, stiff wire
-A large foam block
-Gold paint
-Gold glitter
-Spray adhesive
-Paintbrushes
Step 1:
Take your foam block and gold paint. Using the paintbrushes, cover the entire block with gold paint, doing several layers if needed and letting each layer dry in-between.
In a well-ventilated area take the spray adhesive and spray a generous amount onto sections of the foam block. Sprinkle glitter onto the area that the adhesive was applied and move on to the next section until the entire block is covered! Let dry and cover the entire block with a final layer of the spray adhesive to keep the glitter from flaking off the top.
Step 2:
Take your wire and cut it into 3” lengths until you have enough wire pieces for each feather. Take your cardstock pieces and cut a small slit a ¼ inch under the top and bottom so that you have a space to slide the feather into!
Step 3:
Take a wire piece, a feather, and about 10” of floral tape. Wrap one end of the tape around the quill tip of the feather 2 times, and then add in the wire on the back end of the quill tip. Tightly wrap around a few times so it is securely attached to the feather, and then begin wrapping it further down the wire. Keep going until the entire wire is covered in tape and trim off any excess at the bottom
Step 4:
Slide each card onto the wire end and push it up to just below the feather. Making sure your foam block is dry, push the feathers into it to display them easily for your guests! You are done!
