Ostrich Fringe Christmas Stocking DIY - Crafting with Ostrich Feathers
Share
Christmas time is here! We have been loving all of the cozy weather, hot drinks, and festive crafts we have been seeing; such perfect ways to get into the holiday spirit! If you’re looking for that extra touch of Christmas magic to add to your fireplace this year, or perhaps you want to update a stocking you have had for a while, this is the perfect project for you. It only takes a few minutes to do and uses just a few supplies. Time to put on the Christmas music and get crafting!
Supplies you’ll need:
-A large Christmas stocking (we used red)
-White Ostrich Fringe Trim (1 yard)
-White thread
-A sewing needle
-Scissors
-Broach pin or sparkly Christmas embellishment
Step 1:
Take your ostrich trim and your stocking! Measure around the top of stocking’s opening with the fringe to see how much length you are going to need. Once you have measured accurately, add 1 inch to the length as a precaution and cut it accordingly.
Step 2:
Thread your needle so you are ready to sew, making sure to tie a double knot at the end of the thread so that your sewing does not come undone. Begin attaching the fringe trim to the top of the stocking, sewing through the ribbon edge of the trim and the top edge of the stocking. Keep going until all of the fringe is attached securely. Make sure to not sew over the hanging loop on your stocking!
Step 3:
If there is any excess ostrich trim leftover and hanging off the end when you are done, trim it off until it lines up with the other end of the fringe that you have sewn on. Cut your thread and tie it off!
Step 4:
Attach the broach pin or Christmas embellishment to the top corner of the stocking, next to the hanging loop! If it has a pin already, just use that. If not, attach with a needle and thread or some hot glue or craft glue. You are all set and ready to hang your cozy Christmas stocking!
