Roaring 20's Gala

Glamorous Wedding Décor

The Great Gatsby is a literary masterpiece that has been loved by many since it was written in 1925.  For those who loved the published work, dreams of the written imagery have inspired their dreams.  For others watching one of the film or theatrical adaptations of the novel has been a remarkable experience.

Apart from the lavish lifestyle and deep storyline, the parties thrown by the main character were central to the plot, and extraordinary.  So many of us won’t be lucky enough to be invited to such a lavish gala, but that doesn't mean to let go of all hope.  Throw your own Gatsby inspired gala with these key decorating tips…

Colors- Black, White and Gold are essential when planning a Gatsby get-together. Gold chargers beneath dinner plates, gold plated silverware, black ties, white beaded dresses, and a champagne fountain as an event centerpiece are must haves.

Chandeliers & Candles- Gatsby is all about over the top decadence.  With a combination of a grand scale glittering chandelier overhead and the romance of candles, you will have the perfect lit celebration.

Feathers- Ostrich feathers are grand and fanciful just like a Gatsby party.  Fill tall metallic flecked glass vases with white ostrich feather arrangements as the main focus on each table.  You can make a garland using black goose feathers and spray paint them with gold paint.

Silk & Beads- Delicate silk and flowing beaded strands should be used in excess.  Use silk or satin table cloths, table runners and temporary window or wall treatments.  Strands of gold or silver beads can be hung overhead, draped near lights and of course, around the neck for women’s costuming purposes. Want to go further? Use them on chair decorations too!

Remember that more is…more when throwing a Gatsby inspired party or wedding.  Saturate every nook and cranny with grand scale opulence and don’t forget to keep costumes in fashion with the roaring 1920’s.
