Fascinators are a popular choice in lieu of a veil, and this vintage inspired fascinator tutorial is a simple way to create your own using ivory and white feathers as an elegant accessory for when you tie the knot!
Supplies you’ll need:
-White felt
-Hot glue
-Glue gun
-Bobby pins
-Scissors
-Lightweight rhinestone broach
-6 in. strip of Ivory Ostrich Fringe Trim
-Ivory Bleached and Dyed Peacock Tails
-Ivory Turkey T-Base Plumage Feathers
-Off White Ostrich Small Confetti Feathers
-Ivory Half Beaded Pinwheel Stripped Rooster Hackle Feather Pad
Step 1:
Taking the Ivory Half Beaded Pinwheel feather pad, measure out a rectangle of felt that is the same size as the felt pad on the pinwheel. Cut it to size and trim the corners off.
Step 2:
Hot glue the pinwheel onto the felt and let dry. Cut the ostrich feather trim in half, so you have a 3-inch piece to work with. In the middle of the strip of trim, make a small cut as if you were going to cut the strip in half again, but only cut ¾ of the way through. Hot glue the ostrich trim on top of the pinwheel, gluing it at an arched angle using the cut you made to help it lie flat. Let dry.
Step 3:
Taking 4 or 5 Ivory Turkey T-Base Plumage Feathers, arrange and hot glue them on top of the ostrich fringe. Repeat with gluing the Ostrich Confetti feathers onto the turkey feathers. While gluing these, make sure you are covering the felt with the feathers so your fascinator has a clean look.
Step 4:
Take one Ivory Bleached Peacock Tail Eye Feather and trim it so that you are left with just the eye. Cut off any excess length of the feather hairs. Glue the peacock eye on the top of the confetti feathers in the center of the arrangement.
Step 5:
Glue the rhinestone broach on the bottom of the middle of the fascinator so that it covers the quill tips of all the feathers. Trim the felt on the back of the fascinator so that none is visible from the front. Hot glue 2-3 bobby pins onto the felt so that it can be clipped into the hair. Let dry and you are finished!
